The SS BADGER, part of Lake Michigan's Maritime Heritage

SS BADGER

The SS BADGER is a cross-Lake Michigan car ferry. She used to work for the Cheasepeak and Ohio (Chessie System) Railroad. Over time these car ferries became too cost inefficient. Now she is owned by another company and travels twice a day from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

SS BADGER DOCKSIDE

You can see the large piles of coal at her dock, this is because the SS BADGER is coal fired. We didn't get a chance to get aboard her while we were in Manitowoc, hopefully next time we will.
