MARINE NAVIGATION AND TRAINING ASSOCIATION

BUILDING A GREAT SEAGOING TRADITION ON THE GREAT LAKES!

The Marine Navigation and Training Association (MANATRA) is a Chicago based organization made up of volunteers from different backgrounds and various skills who share two common interests. These are PRIDE in America's Maritime Heritage, and the IMPORTANCE of teaching today's youth leadership and teamwork skills utilizing a shipboard environment which provides an understanding of the basic skills of seamanship, navigation and engineering. Many of the young people we have worked with have gone on to wonderful careers in the United States Navy and Merchant Marine.

The Association's flagship, YP-671, is a yard patrol vessel of the U.S. Navy and is docked near Monroe Harbor in Chicago. It is used for the purpose of training Naval Sea Cadets, sea scouts and other youth organizations. We operate in cooperation with the Navy League of the United States. A civilian patriotic organization in support of the Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.

MANATRA is a private, Illinois not-for-profit association organized in 1946 that reveives no government or public subsidies. For more information on membership, training programs or making a tax deductable donation please contact us at the e-mail link shown on the bottom of the page.
