YP-671 NSCC / NLCC Summer Training Schedule

2002 Comments and Schedule for 2003

2002 was the finest summer training experience to date.  The fifth summer brought us to new ports of call and more great times than any other. We experienced hands on water safety in life rafts with the Wisconsin Air National Guard. We got to see the new 47 foot Morot Life Boats at USCG Station Grand Haven as well as train together for a day with the Cadets of West Michigan Division in Muskegon. Most importantly we steamed nearly 700 miles, the most of any year so far. This underway time is really the most valuable for cadets, especially in recent years with the USN drawdown and then the aftermath and mission responsibilities after 9-11

The ship will be undergoing a maintenance overhaul of her main engines during winter 2003 and spring 2003. We expect this to take until June, which will curtail underway operation in the spring. However we anticipate a good schedule of training opportunities in July and August. Including another long cruise as we have done in the past and an oportunity for League Cadets.

Please watch for the Summer Training Schedule from NHQ in March for more details.
